![]() The internet cafe is set in the centre of the village in a converted building; it has kitchen and toilet facilities along with desks for 10 people, it also has a chill out area with tables and two black sofas. The internet cafe is made up of 11 HP computers, 17" flat panel monitors, webcams, colour printers and a modern web filtering device. There is also an Xbox and Wii game console connected to large flat panel HD televisions mounted on the wall. The Can is open for general public use and the facilities are FREE! Coffee, tea, snacks and soft drinks are available at reasonable prices and donations towards operational costs are very welcome. Due to the CAN being an Aldbourne Youth Council Project, the youth council is a registered charity and VAT registered so donations can be gift aided. If you wish to receive free training, please phone Michael Cowan on 01672 540071 or email Michael Cowan or phone Michael Edmonds on 01672 540114. We can offer training in: Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint, email, surfing the internet plus much more- just ask and we will try to find a volunteer with the skills to share! We are always on the lookout for volunteers too, age 18+ so if you would like to help out, please get in touch. Training for volunteers is available. All volunteers will need to follow the CAN child protection policy and require a full enhanced CRB disclosure which can be arranged free of charge. The internet cafe was funded by the Aldbourne Youth Council's own Fund Raising, donations from the general public including Mr Brian Kingham of Aldbourne Chase Farms, local businesses and grants from Kennet District Council, Wiltshire Council, Sarcen Housing association, The National Lottery, GWR Kidz and Wiltshire Young Peoples Opportunity Fund. |
